Murgatroyd named offensive line coach/recruiting coordinator at WC

Todd Murgatroyd has been named offensive line coach/recruiting coordinator at Wilmington College, head coach Ken Minor announced today.


A 1986 graduate of West Liberty State University, Murgatroyd brings a wealth of experience and success to Wilmington. He was the assistant offensive line coach at Otterbein University in 2009 as the Cardinals led the Ohio Athletic Conference with 225 rushing yards per game.

Murgatroyd has 21 years of collegiate coaching experience. His resume’ includes stops at University of Tennessee, University of Hawaii, Kent State University, Youngstown State University and The Ohio State University, where he was the program assistant/assistant recruiting coordinator under head coach Jim Tressel. In 2005, he was named one of the nation’s top 30 recruiters by American Football Monthly.

For five seasons (2002-06), Murgatroyd was the head coach at Urbana University and led the Blue Knights to their first winning season in 2005. He left Urbana as the winningest coach in school history.

Murgatroyd and his wife Michelle have a child Lindsey. They reside in Hilliard.

Ken Minor named WC head football coach

Ken Minor has been named head football coach at Wilmington College. A 1973 Wilmington College graduate, Minor returns to his alma mater with 38 years of coaching experience.


“We are very pleased that Ken has decided to lead our football program into the future,” Wilmington College Director of Athletics/Vice President for Athletics Administration Terry Rupert said. “Ken is an outstanding leader, teacher and coach.”

Minor was a four-year starter at tight end for Wilmington College and was an NAIA Honorable Mention All-America selection in 1971. His coaching career began as an assistant to former Wilmington College head coach Bill Ramseyer in 1972.

Minor spent the ensuing 37 years coaching high school football in Cincinnati. He was an assistant coach for six seasons at Reading High School before being named head coach in 1979. He led the Blue Devils to four league championships and six appearances in the state playoffs. His 2000 squad advanced to the state semifinals.

In 27 seasons as head coach at Reading, Minor compiled a 170-129-1 record. He was a two-time district coach of the year and was named Cincinnati Hills League Coach of the Year four times. After spending the 2008 season as offensive coordinator at North College Hill High School, Minor was named head coach at Summit Country Day High School. In 2009, he led the Silver Knights to a 5-5 mark, their best record in the past eight seasons.

A 2002 Wilmington College Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Minor said he is excited to return to the Quakers’ sideline.

“I’m flattered and thrilled to be coming back to a place that was very special to me for many years,” Minor said. “I just feel like destiny has beckoned me to come back. I love coaching football and the relationships you build with the players and coaches. Teams that I have coached have been known for the intensity that they played with.”

Barry Wulf Resigns From Wilmington College

WILMINGTON, Ohio — Wilmington College has initiated its search for a head football coach.

Wilmington College, a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference, will be looking for a successor to Barry Wulf, who has resigned after five years on the sideline.


“We want to thank Barry for his service to Wilmington College and wish him well,” Wilmington College Director of Athletics/Vice President for Athletics Administration Terry Rupert said. “We are moving forward in search of a coach who has proven leadership skills, an individual who embraces the standards and ethics of Wilmington College and NCAA Division III student-athletics.”
