WESTERVILLE, OHIO—Otterbein head football coach Joe Loth announced today the naming of Joe Nemith III as the new co-defensive coordinator. He replaces Randy Moore, who recently accepted the head football coaching position at Hiram College.
“We are excited to have coach Nemith—with his experience, enthusiasm, and proven track record—join our program,” Loth said.
Nemith, 34, comes to Otterbein from Ohio Dominican University where he served as associate head coach and defensive coordinator since 2004. He coached defensive backs and also coordinated the strength program at Ohio Dominican. Overall, Nemith brings over 11 years of coaching experience to his new position.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of the Otterbein family,” Nemith said. “Otterbein has done a great job over the last couple of years in taking its football program to the national level. I can’t wait to get started working with coach Loth and the coaching staff and meeting the players.”
A native of Akron, Ohio, Nemith graduated from Malone College in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He was a three-year starter at strong safety, earning all-conference honors in 1995 and 1996.
Following graduation from Malone, Nemith took a graduate assistant position at the University of Akron (1998-2000) before moving on to Tri-State University where he served as defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for two seasons (2000-02). He spent the next two seasons (2002-04) as special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Robert Morris University.
Over the course of his career, Nemith has worked numerous football camps, including camps at The Ohio State University, Pittsburgh Steelers, University of Notre Dame, and Michigan State University.
Coach Nemith and his wife, Stacey, have one daughter, Dalen Joe, and live in Pickerington.
