Cincinnati’s Butch Jones Named OhioCollegeFootball.com NCAA FBS DI Coach of the Year

Columbus, Ohio – GameDay Management, Inc announced today the OhioCollegeFootball.com NCAA FBS DI Coach of the Year for 2011.  The honor was selected by a panel of media and FBS DI Sports Information Directors from the State of Ohio.

The OhioCollegeFootball.com Coach of the Year is given annually to the top head coaches from Ohio in all divisions – NCAA DI, DII and DIII.

The winner of the 2011 OhioCollegeFootball.com NCAA FBS DI Coach of the Year is Cincinnati’s Butch Jones.

Jones, who is in his second season at Cincinnati, has steered the Bearcats to a 9-3 record in 2011 and a BIG EAST Conference Championship.  UC won its third BIG EAST Championship in four years and is one of the most improved teams in the NCAA FBS after more than doubling its win total of four from a year ago. Cincinnati will face Vanderbilt in the 53rd AutoZone Liberty Bowl on December 31 at Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis, Tenn.

Jones has amassed a 13-11 mark at Cincinnati and has a career record of 40-24.

The OhioCollegeFootball.com Coach of the Year will be honored at a banquet on Saturday, April 13, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza North in Columbus, Ohio on the eve of the Ohio Army National Guard Senior Bowl III at Crew Stadium.

Ohio Dominican’s Bill Conley Named OhioCollegeFootball.com FCS/DII Coach of the Year

Columbus, Ohio – GameDay Management, Inc announced today the OhioCollegeFootball.com NCAA FCS/DII Coach of the Year for 2011.  The honor was selected by a panel of media and FCS/DII Sports Information Directors from the State of Ohio.

The OhioCollegeFootball.com Coach of the Year is given annually to the top head coaches from Ohio in all divisions – NCAA DI, DII and DIII.

The winner of the 2011 OhioCollegeFootball.com FCS/DIII Coach of the Year is Ohio Dominican Head Coach Bill Conley.

Conley, who is in his second season at Ohio Dominican, led the Panthers to a 7-4 record in 2011 and a tie for third place (6-4) in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The 7-4 mark is a five-win improvement from last season and a four-win upgrade in conference play.  ODU reached the seven-win mark for the fifth time in the program’s eight-year history.
