Sorry Joe but this is way to good to not post this in the forum. Curious what others think!

I believe coaches typically have the more accurate poll, although in this case the media poll is a better indicator of where these teams fall withing the OAC.

I have a problem with Otterbein getting a first place vote in the coaches poll, first of all they're Otterbein and secondly Mt. Union undoubtably deserves all such votes. Sure the Cardinals got through the OAC last season, but they caught a lot of people off gaurd. Proof they cannot win the OAC, regardless of Jack who?, is that they went one and done in the playoffs, an embarassement by OAC standards, and the conference will respect them this year after finally having a season worth talking about.

Capital being 4th in the media, when they were a terrible and extremely predictable team last sesason, even if they did have injuries, is a problem. They will be in the bottom half.

A darkhorse prediction could be having any one of the bottom five teams in the Media poll finish 3rd or 4th. Maybe Heidelberg? Maybe JCU now that they've finally gotten rid of that QB they've had for the last 7 years, who was almost as big a _ as Rocky Pentello.

Lastly, the Polar Bears. Typically a tough program and they have had a lot of changes within, which could lead to a great season. The media played it safe placing them in the middle of the pack. According to 'technical data' the Ohio Northern program has been on a downfall, almost internal combustion and is still lead by the same man, so we'll see if recent trends continue.

Top to bottom the OAC is still a premeir conference in D-3.

Otterbein has a great D, and having Jack back behind center makes Otterbien a great choice for the number two spot in the OAC. The one first place vote more than likely came from Coach Kehres. There will never me 100% unanomous coaches poll in any division. I love D3 football, it is college football at it's purest. if you say the score of the game that Otterbein palyoff game it was a shot out and it was close. OC did not make the OAC look bad.

Now the Ohio Northern is a good team i have them at #4 in the OAC. MUC, OC, CAP, ON, BW,JC, HB,WILM, MUSK,MARI. I feel that OC has many returnering starters that will make them tough.

You are correct not many conferences get 2 teams in the playoffs and the OAC bring two to the dance almost every year. MUC and whom ever is the bridsmaid in the conference.

Bring on the Football season.

Other thing for you to remember is this...

You can't vote for yourself in preseason voting...so probably Kehres gave the first place vote to the team he thought was the next best...

Interesting point ram, I had the same question myself about otterbein's first place vote. I am glad you pointed that fact out. I do agree with the point though that otterbein caught a few folks offguard last year and it will be interesting to see if they can repeat that, especially since they only have 4 home games this year. Still go cards, beat the mt.

interesting to see that mt. union's support is starting to erode. They lost a few first place votes this week. Who knows maybe this is the year still that they are upset. Still would love to see them matched with Case in the tournament.
