I am looking forward to the date announcement so I can start making my schedule for next year. Can't wait too get up to ashland again. Will probably make it for at least one basketball game and maybe a wrestling match but just not quite the same as football.

Oh my, I can't believe I didn't notice the game at odu. Next year will be another great year. Too bad Grand Valley State is not on the schedule next year. Will the glac be exspanding too two conferences?

The 14-school GLIAC is essentially a 'north-south' conference now (I think this is how the divisions will be made):

AU, Findlay, Tiffin, ODU, LEC, Hillsdale and Northwood are the south.

Grand Valley, Saginaw, Ferris, Mich Tech, Northern MI, Wayne State, and U Indy are the north.

I believe the reason for HC and Northwood to be part of the south is because they are private and smaller in size than the other schools.

AU has a great schedule from the standpoint of getting a bunch of wins, but their strength of schedule could be pretty weak as far as making the playoffs. I hope they schedule a PSAC or WVIAC school for the open week (or the University of Dayton would be OK from an instate-rivalry standpoint).

I heard from a good source. One of the teams they are working on for the first game might be Columbus State and maybe do a Thursday night game. But it is not final or anything.

Pardon me for asking but which columbus state are we talking about? I don't think CSCC has a football team so I am assuming it is another one.

There is a Columbus State Univserity in GA, but they don't have football either.

I wonder who else it might be ...

I was told the Columbus St. in Ohio but I looked on their web-site and they don't have football. So I don't know..... I was told by an AU player that the coaches were talking about it. So sorry for the misinformation but you know how young men can get thing truned around he may have misheard his coach.

I know exactly what you mean.

A couple years ago AU played Geneva in a final team scrimmage - maybe they are looking at some team like that ... I'm sure Coach Owens and the staff are looking for a good match-up.

Next season will be an exciting one; the offense has just about everyone back and I'm expecting that #3 will step right in and pick-up where Billy C left off and the defense is adding some talent on the line (if the transfers work out and those who have verbally committed ultimately sign on Feb 3).

Go EAGLES!

on another subject , does anyone know how the stadium and athletic center construction is comming along? That will be a great stadium to watch a game in when done( pretty darn good right now actually) so I was wondering. I wll be there myself in ashland to watch a wrestling tournament hosted by ashland university in a couple of weeks and I am looking forward to seeing the progress.

As you can see they are trying to get it under roof this month and are saying it will be ready for spring ball.

Perhaps it was Central State not Columbus State? They are DII, but wouldn't help w/SOS. Geneva is transitioning to DIII. IMHO, a top PSIA team (Bloomsburg or California) would best meet the goal of increasing SOS.

Could be the Maruaders - would be another in-state match-up, but as you said, wouldn't do much for the SOS.

I have heard possibilities about renewing the Bloomsburg match-up ...

As far as I have heard for next season Northwood will be back in the GLIAC North.

The North should be: GVSU, Ferris, SVSU, Northwood, NMU, MTU, LSSU (replaced by Indy for football).

The South should be: WSU, Ashland, Hillsdale, Findlay, ODU, Lake Erie and Tiffin.

I could see Northwood and WSU switching spots, but based on the schedules I've seen so far it is not possible to make a determination as to which school is in which division (they play each other non-conference so I know they will be in different divisions though).

I just checked WSU's schedule and WSU plays all the teams I have listed in the south division, so WSU must be in the South and Northwood moves back to the place they geographically belong, the GLIAC North.

Please note, in football conference only, not divisional standings are kept. Divisions are used only as a scheduling tool in football (unless it changes this year).

thanks for the info, I am looking forward to next season and increasing the amount of d2 ball I watch. By the way I just returned from ashland. I was up their today watchng the Wendy's Duals, the 21rst time ashland has hosted this fine wrestling event. Ashland being a d2 school was overmatched against some fine d1 talent in maryland, kent state and purdue but they gave a good account of themselves, wrestled hard and even had a couple of wins. Ashland always does things first class, today was no different. Good luck to the eagles the rest of this season in wrestling.
