As a fan of denison football I am sad to see this move. Denison has to do what they think is best but still I thought he had been doing a good job. Last year the team did very well and the quarterback going down the way he did early this year didn't help. Good luck to coach flethcer in the future. Good luck also to the big red and hopefully you can come back next year.

I really thought the Big Red were heading in the right direction under Fletcher. Interesting though. Hey, isn't Jim Bickel, Capital head coach, a Denison graduate? I can't imagine him leaving Capital but you never know. |

My son was being recruited heavily by Fletcher now this matter changes everything. Wittenberg, Otterbein, and Baldwin-Wallace are now the front runners |

good luck to your son blue, I hope he does well. Those are all good schools and he can't go wrong no matter his choice.

Interestesting question about bickel. I guess it all depends on what he is looking towards in how much emphasis the school puts on athletics. I do believe the oac puts more emphasis on sports then the ncac( at least in football) so if he wants to further his career and someday move on he would be best to stay with cap over a denison I believe. Of course there are other sports that the ncac care about more(lacrosse, swimming) so I guess it comes down to what is best determined by the sport. God( at least my dad thought he was god) left denison for greener pastures many decades ago so my guess is bickel will be staying where he is.

As a Denison alum, I've always thought of Fletcher to be an approachable guy with an academics first attitude. Surely the administration has been happy with the better quality student-athletes he has recruited into the program. However, the man has had around three winning season in his roughly ten year stay at Denison and from what I understand, is regarded as unapproachble and maintains a lack of communication with his players. At Denison the admission standards will never encourage 35+ freshmen to come out for camp every year, so winning with numbers will never be the norm, but DU needs a coach that knows how to adjust and maximize with was he has got. It is good to see change though, and I hope that Big Red football can return to the level it once was at in the mid 80s. |

My son is also being recruited by Denison. He is not giving up on Dension unless we do not like the new head coach. His mother and I liked Denison because of the academics. That has not changed.
From what I could tell about Coach Fletcher he was a fine man. He had a tremendous passion for his program. I hope things turn out well for him.
