Article from Ashland Times Gazette on the Purple & Gold game.

http://www.times-gazette.com/news/article/4814824

RS soph Taylor Housewright leads Purple to 17-7 win passing 14-17 for 96 yards and a 14-yard TD pass to Christian Livingston.

OSU transfer Rocco Pentellow was 7-14 passing for about 70 yards and had 16 carries for 90 yards and a 3-yard rushing TD.

Great start for the Eagles!

And does that new football facility look great - there is no better D2 or D3 facility in Ohio (and it probably rivals most D1s as well)- AU has a tremendous recruiting advantage with this facility.

It was a grand night, playing in this new stadium at night was just great. I agree this should be a huge recruiting tool. There were a couple of YTS player watching the game talking about transfering.

Rocco only had 65 yards rushing. He looks more like a running back or wide out to me.

good to hear about the fine performance at the spring game. Good to see ashland has a fine season to look forward too. I agree the new stadium is great. I was their last year for the first game and saw some of the progress when there in January for the wendy's wrestling duels and I can see it will wind up being another fine palace to watch football in, shoot it already is. I might have to disagree with the comparison to d1 stadiums though. The Glass Bowl is showing some ware but I think it still is a fine place to watch a game. Now if Akron was still playing in the Rubber Bowl you observation would be 100% correct. Hard to find anything worse then that.

I probably was a bit 'over enthusiastic' with the D-1 comparison Laughing - but if you are borderline D-1 athlete and would rather be a starter than a sub, you certainly won't suffer facility-wise making the choice to come to Ashland!

The stadium may not be D1 because of the size. But the field house is as nice or nicer than most of the MAC. The locker room is larger than any of the MAC that I have been in including Arkon's. I have been in all the MAC's in Ohio. It is also larger than Louisville. And the setting is so nice with the eagle fountain. Or maybe it is the over all design is just so tasteful. Grand Valley is big but just not as appealing setting or design.
