Subject: Horn sets new AU receiving record while Eagles on the bubble for POs Football Championship Subdivision posted by tigercoach on Monday, November 1st 2010 @ 8:26 AM
Ashland wide receiver Joe Horn caught 8 passes for 70 yards and 3 TDs as Ashland pounded Findlay 56-7 at UF's Donnel Stadium.
Horn has caught 155 passess for 2,351 yards and 23 TDs in his career as an Eagle with at least 2 games left to play. His total surpasses the record set by Chris Harkness in 1988 of 2,327 yards. Horn is also tied with Harkness for the career TD reception mark at 23.
The Eagle's remaining regular season games are at Ohio Dominican (November 6, 12:00 PM) and at Ashland for Senior Day against Lake Erie College (November 13, 1:00 PM).
Ashland won 5 games in October and is in position to finish the season 8-3 if they can win-out over their in-state rivals the ODU Panthers and Lake Erie Lakers. While the Eagles got an NCAA Division II playoff bid with the same record in 2008, the Eagles will need a lot of 'help' as there are many teams in Super Region 3 that have better records at this point.
Minnesota-Diluth, Augustana, Grand Valley, Hillsdale, Wayne State, Michigan Tech, Nebraska-Kearney and Colorado School of Mines all have 2 or less losses at this point. But AU did beat Wayne State and narrowly lost to Hillsdale and gave #14 8-1 Bloomsburg their only loss ... we'll see where the Eagles land when the rankings come out today.
Good luck Eagles! |
